TTA, Crime Analysis and Evaluation: Examples from Bureau of Justice Assistance Supported Programs
Recognition of the need for action research in the criminal justice field has provided ample opportunities for academics formally trained in research and evaluation methods to apply quantitative and qualitative skills and criminological theory to pressing crime and violence issues. Major government agencies such as the Department of Justice, National Institute of Health, and state, city and local entities have put forth directives and financial support for research-practitioner partnerships. Examples of successful partnerships, evaluation results, and training and technical assistance opportunities will be presented.

Interviewing, Interview Protocols, and Special Populations
Interviewing subjects, especially special populations in criminal justice such as incarcerated persons, is a complex undertaking. This workshop explores fundamentals of conducting phenomenological interviews using a case study on innovative interview methodologies. An inmate research project will be used as an exemplar of identifying a population, gaining access, developing interview protocols, and implementation. Time will be allotted for questions.
